Chateau Peyronat Blaye 75cl
AED 62.00
Plush, dark-fruit Bordeaux red vibes without the wait, Blaye is the kind of Right Bank neighbour that makes weeknight steak feel like a plan. Chateau Peyronat leans Merlot-led (think black cherry, plum, a little cocoa), with that classic French savoury edge that’s made for roast chicken, burgers, or a cheese board you didn’t overthink.

Big Bordeaux satisfaction, minus the fuss. Chateau Peyronat from Blaye (Bordeaux, France) is a Merlot-led red that brings ripe dark fruit, gentle spice, and that savoury French finish that makes you want another bite of food.
- Appearance: Deep ruby, clear and glossy in the glass.
- Nose: Black cherry and plum first, then cocoa, dried herbs, and a whiff of cedar.
- Palate: Dry, dark-fruited, with soft, grippy tannins that feel more “polished” than “mouth-drying.”
- Body: Medium to medium-full, hearty enough for dinner but not a total heavyweight.
- Finish: A lingering mix of ripe berry, light spice, and a savoury edge that keeps it interesting.
Pour it with roast chicken and mushrooms, steak frites, or a burger with caramelized onions (this is one of those reds that loves browned, savoury flavours).
If Cabernet-heavy Bordeaux has ever felt a bit too firm, this is a friendlier lane, more Merlot comfort, less tannin flex. It’s also a great “I like Malbec” next step when you want similar dark fruit, but with a more classic French shape.
Give it 10 minutes in the glass, or a quick splash in a decanter, and the fruit pops while the spice and savoury notes settle into place.
This is the kind of bottle you keep around for spontaneous dinner plans. Pasta with ragù, a last-minute steak, or just a wedge of aged cheddar and a good show, it shows up and does the job.
Blaye sits across from Saint-Émilion on the Gironde, which is why these wines can feel like a Bordeaux insider tip: similar Right Bank warmth and Merlot charm, usually with a more easygoing, drink-now attitude.
Fun Fact: Blaye’s vineyards grow near the Citadel of Blaye, a massive 17th-century fortress built to protect Bordeaux, basically the region’s original “security system,” just with cannons.
