Hardys VR Shiraz 75cl

AED 29.00

Big Aussie Shiraz energy without the wine-snob homework: ripe plum, dark cherry, a pinch of pepper, and soft tannins that make weeknight pasta feel like a plan. From Australia, this dry red is an easy next step if you like Merlot but want more spice and grip, and it’s built for burgers, roast veg, or a couch glass after a long day.

Description

Ripe dark fruit, peppery spice, and zero homework, this is Australian Shiraz made for people who want a proper red without turning dinner into a tasting exam.

Made from Shiraz in South Eastern Australia, Hardys VR sits in that dry, medium-to-full-bodied red wine zone that works hard at the table. Think blackberry, plum, and a little black pepper, with soft tannins that keep things easy to drink.

  • Appearance: Deep ruby red with a dark purple edge, the kind of colour that tells you this is bringing the fruit.
  • Nose: Ripe plum and blackberry up front, followed by dark cherry, gentle spice, and a hint of pepper.
  • Palate: Dry and fruit-led, with juicy black fruit, soft acidity, and rounded tannins that give grip without getting bossy.
  • Body: Medium to full-bodied, enough weight for hearty food but still relaxed enough for a casual glass.
  • Finish: Dark berry fruit lingers with a warm peppery note that makes the next sip feel pretty obvious.
  • Food pairings: Beef burgers, roast lamb, pepperoni pizza, mushroom pasta, or grilled aubergine with smoky spices.

Pour it with roast lamb on Sunday, burgers off the grill, or a tomato-rich pasta when you want red wine that actually shows up for dinner.

If Merlot is your comfort zone, this is a smart next step. You still get plush fruit, but Shiraz adds more pepper, darker berries, and a bit more grip. No secret handshake required.

This is also a solid “bring to the table” red because it does the crowd-pleasing thing without tasting anonymous. Give it a few minutes in the glass and the plum, cherry, and spice start stacking up nicely.

Fun Fact: Hardys traces its roots back to Thomas Hardy, who founded his first Adelaide winery in 1853 and became one of the big names in Australia’s wine story.
