It is a Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon red blend from Bordeaux, France, made for drinkers who want structure without needing a wine dictionary on standby.

This is the bottle to grab when you like Cabernet Sauvignon but want something a bit more French dinner table than steakhouse spotlight. Merlot brings the softer plum fruit, Cabernet adds cassis, grip, and a leafy edge, and together they land in that very useful zone: enough character to notice, easy enough to pour on a weeknight.

• Appearance: Deep ruby red, clear and bright in the glass.
• Nose: Blackcurrant, ripe plum, and red cherry first, followed by cedar, dried herbs, and a light earthy note.
