Description

Easy to like, hard to put down. This South African Chardonnay is all about bright fruit, a friendly creamy edge, and that “one more glass” energy when you just want a solid white wine that shows up.

  • Appearance: Pale straw gold, clear and glossy in the glass.
  • Nose: Fresh apple, pear, lemon zest, plus a soft vanilla and toasted-nut hint.
  • Taste: Ripe orchard fruit up front, citrus lift through the middle, and a gentle creamy note that rounds everything out. Dry, with lively acidity that keeps it feeling fresh.
  • Body: Medium-bodied, enough texture to feel satisfying without getting heavy.
  • Finish: Clean and lightly creamy, with fruit and a subtle oak-like warmth hanging around.

If you’re building a “grab-and-pour” white wine rotation, this earns its spot. Chardonnay can go full butter-bomb or super sharp, but this lands in the happy middle, flavourful, bright, and super drinkable. It’s also a great pick when you’re pouring for different tastes, because the fruit is generous and the finish stays tidy.

South Africa does Chardonnay ridiculously well thanks to coastal cooling winds and plenty of sunshine, which is basically code for ripe fruit with built-in freshness. So you get that approachable, fruity character, but the wine still feels awake on your palate, not flat.

Want a bottle that works when the plan is “we’ll figure out food later”? This is it. It’s got enough body to handle richer bites, and enough acidity to keep things lively when you’re snacking, chatting, and topping up glasses.

Fun Fact: “Obikwa” comes from the Khoisan languages of Southern Africa and is connected to the idea of “people of the sea,” a nod to the coastal influence that helps keep South African whites so fresh.
