Ron Matusalem Rum 7 Year Old 70cl

AED 89.00

That classic Cuban-style aged rum vibe, without the syrupy sugar-bomb energy. Ron Matusalem 7 Year brings caramel, toasted oak, and a little vanilla warmth that makes an easy sipper and a seriously good Cuba Libre. Born in Cuba, now made in the Dominican Republic, it’s a smart step up from basic mixing rum.

Description

Caramel-and-oak comfort, with enough character to keep you interested, this is the kind of aged rum that quietly upgrades your whole home bar.

Ron Matusalem 7 Year is a Cuban-style aged rum with real time in wood behind it, which is why it tastes rounded and layered instead of flat. The name started in Cuba, but this bottle is made in the Dominican Republic today, and it keeps that lighter, elegant “Cuban-style” feel that plays well both neat and in cocktails.

Here’s why you’ll care about the 7 years. Age isn’t a trophy, it’s flavour. Time in barrel brings out toasted notes, deeper colour, and that dessert-spice vibe, so you can sip it without needing to drown it in mixer. If your current rum only works when it’s hidden under cola, this is your upgrade.

Tasting notes

  • Nose: Caramel, vanilla, and warm oak, like the first sniff of a freshly opened dessert cupboard.
  • Taste: Toffee and gentle spice up front, then a drier, oaky mid-palate that keeps it grown-up and balanced.
  • Finish: Medium length, with lingering vanilla-oak and a soft, warming spice.

How to drink it: Neat or on a big cube when you want an easy sipping rum, or pour it in a Cuba Libre with fresh lime when you want a simple drink that tastes like you tried.

This one’s also a great “starter” aged rum for whisky drinkers. If you like the vanilla-and-oak side of bourbon, Matusalem 7 hits a similar comfort zone, just with a rum twist. And if your go-to is Bacardi in mixed drinks, this is the next step when you want more flavour without going full funky Jamaican.

It earns its place in cocktails, too. The oak and caramel notes don’t disappear, so it stands up in a Rum Old Fashioned, and it adds depth to a Daiquiri (yes, even if you usually think Daiquiris are just beach drinks).

Fun Fact: The “Matusalem” name is a nod to Methuselah, basically a joke about long life, which is pretty perfect for a rum built around ageing.
