Big “Bordeaux red” energy without the fuss. Chateau Peyredoulle from Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux, France is a dry red that goes straight for the good stuff, dark fruit, savoury edges, and tannins that actually show up to do their job.
- Appearance: Deep ruby, nice and inky at the core.
- Nose: Black cherry and plum up front, then a more savoury turn with cedar, dried herbs, and a little earthy vibe.
- Palate: Dry, dark-fruited, and firmly structured, with grippy tannins that make each sip feel serious (in a good way).
- Body: Medium to full-bodied, the kind of red that holds up when the food gets rich.
- Finish: Long and savoury, with lingering dark berry and a subtle woody spice note.
Food pairing:Bring it to a roast lamb dinner, peppery grilled steak, or a burger night with aged cheddar and caramelized onions.
This is the bottle you open when you want something classic and grounding. The structure is the point, it cuts through fat, plays nice with smoky char, and turns a regular Tuesday meal into a “we’re eating properly tonight” moment.
If you’re mostly a Malbec drinker, expect a little less jam and a little more savoury grip. If you’re a Cabernet Sauvignon fan, you’ll like the firmer tannins and the darker, more serious feel. And if Pinot Noir is your usual, think of this as the bolder, more broody cousin.
Not sure how to serve it? Give it a bit of air, even a quick pour and a few minutes in the glass helps the fruit pop and the edges soften. Then just keep the snacks coming.
Fun Fact: Blaye sits on the right bank of Bordeaux, a neighbourhood known for Merlot-friendly terrain, which is why these reds often feel plush, dark-fruited, and dangerously easy to keep pouring.
