Cordier Pouilly Fuisse 75cl

AED 205.00

Love rich white wine with real personality? Pouilly-Fuissé from Burgundy is 100% Chardonnay, but it drinks more like “grown-up” Chardonnay, think ripe orchard fruit, a little lemon zest, and that subtle creamy, nutty vibe that makes you want a second glass. Pour it with roast chicken or creamy pasta when you want something French that feels special without being fussy.

Description

This is Chardonnay with its sleeves rolled up. Pouilly-Fuissé (from southern Burgundy, France) is where Chardonnay stops being basic and starts getting interesting, more texture, more savoury depth, and way more “where has this been all my life?” energy.

If you’ve been stuck in a loop of buttery “big” Chardonnay or super-zesty ones that feel a bit sharp, this is a smart middle path. It’s dry, confidently flavoured, and built for the table, not just a quick sip and scroll.

  • Appearance: Pale gold, bright and clear.
  • Nose: Ripe apple and pear up front, then lemon peel, a touch of white flowers, and a gentle toasted almond note.
  • Palate: Dry Chardonnay with juicy orchard fruit, fresh citrus lift, and a creamy, lightly nutty mid-palate that keeps it feeling generous.
  • Body: Medium-bodied, with a rounder texture than your average “crisp white.”
  • Finish: Clean, lingering, and slightly savoury, the kind of finish that makes food taste better.

Food pairing: Think roast chicken with lemon and thyme, creamy mushroom pasta, or seared scallops with brown butter.

Want a helpful benchmark? If you like lightly oaked California Chardonnay but wish it were a bit tighter and more food-friendly, this is a seriously good next step. And if you’re usually a Chablis person, this is the richer cousin you bring out for dinner.

Because it’s from Pouilly-Fuissé, it leans into that classic Burgundy balance: fruit plus freshness, with a subtle savoury edge that keeps it from feeling heavy. It’s the bottle you open when you want to impress without turning it into a whole performance.

Fun Fact: Pouilly-Fuissé is one of the most famous Chardonnay villages in the Mâconnais, a corner of Burgundy that over-delivers on flavour compared to its more hyped neighbours.
