Macon Lugny Florières 75cl

AED 110.00

Fresh, clean Burgundy Chardonnay that nails the “one more glass” vibe, think lemon zest, green apple and a little chalky minerality. It’s from France’s Mâconnais (near Lugny), which is basically the cheat code for bright, food-friendly white wine without the heavy oak drama.

Description

Crisp Burgundy Chardonnay, minus the intimidation. Mâcon-Lugny Florières is the kind of French white wine you pour on a random weeknight and suddenly your dinner feels like a plan.

This one comes from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy (around the village of Lugny), a spot known for Chardonnay that stays zippy and refreshing instead of big, buttery and oaky. So if you like your white wine bright, citrusy and easy to keep sipping, you’re in the right aisle.

  • Appearance: Pale straw, bright and clear
  • Nose: Lemon peel, green apple, white flowers, a light stony vibe
  • Palate: Dry Chardonnay with crisp acidity, clean orchard fruit, and a subtle mineral edge that keeps it snappy
  • Body: Light to medium, refreshing not heavy
  • Finish: Citrus and a faint chalky linger that makes you want another sip

Food pairing (don’t overthink it): roast chicken with herbs, creamy pasta with mushrooms, or grilled prawns with lemon and garlic.

If your current comfort zone is New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but you want something a little rounder and more “Burgundy,” this is a smart next step. You still get that fresh, mouth-watering lift, just with a bit more texture and less of the grassy punch.

Serve it nicely chilled, then let it warm up a touch in the glass. You’ll notice the fruit opens up and the wine starts showing more than just citrus, which is exactly why Chardonnay fans keep coming back to this part of France.

It’s also a clutch bottle to bring to dinner when you don’t know what everyone drinks. It plays well with salads, seafood, creamy sauces, and cheese boards, without stealing the whole show.

Fun Fact: Mâcon-Lugny is a well-known Chardonnay pocket in the Mâconnais, and a lot of the wine here is made to spotlight freshness and that stony “Burgundy” feel rather than heavy oak flavour.
