Description

Juicy, bright, and dangerously drinkable, this New Zealand Pinot Noir is the kind of red you open “just for a glass” and suddenly the bottle’s gone. Stoneleigh does Pinot in a way that feels effortless, lots of cherry and berry up front, with a savoury, earthy twist that keeps it interesting.

If you’ve ever found some Pinot Noir too thin or too fussy, this is a great reset. It’s a dry red wine with real flavour, but it stays light on its feet, so you can actually finish a glass and feel like pouring the next one.

  • Appearance: Bright ruby red, clear and vibrant in the glass.
  • Nose: Ripe cherry and wild strawberry, plus a little dried herb and a hint of forest-floor earthiness.
  • Palate: Dry and fruit-forward, with bright acidity that lifts the red-berry flavours and keeps it super fresh.
  • Tannins: Soft and fine, so it’s more silky than grippy.
  • Body: Light to medium-bodied, the “pinot people” zone.
  • Finish: Clean, gently savoury, with berry notes that linger and make food taste better.

Food pairing: Go roast chicken with thyme, salmon teriyaki, or a mushroom pizza, this wine loves anything savoury and a little earthy.

Why Marlborough matters: you get that signature New Zealand clarity, bright fruit, zippy freshness, and a clean finish that doesn’t feel heavy. It’s an easy pick for weeknight dinners, but it’s also a smart “bring-a-bottle” red when you don’t want to guess what everyone’s into.

If you usually reach for Malbec or Shiraz and want something lighter, this is your move. Think of it as the red that still has flavour, just without the weight.

Pour it with a slight chill (10 to 15 minutes in the fridge) and it snaps into focus, especially if you’re eating or it’s warm out.

Fun Fact: Marlborough is best known for Sauvignon Blanc, which is exactly why its Pinot Noir feels like a secret handshake for people who like finding the underrated bottle.
