Jean-Pierre Moueix Saint-Émilion 75cl

AED 110.00

Plush, Merlot-led Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion, the kind of red that makes roast chicken feel like a real dinner. Expect dark cherry, cocoa and a little cedar, with tannins that keep it classy without drying your mouth out. If you like a classic right-bank style (think the softer, fruitier side of Bordeaux), this is your easy step up.

Description

Rich, Merlot-forward Saint-Émilion that makes you look like you planned the meal, even if you didn’t. This is classic Right Bank Bordeaux: dark fruit, a bit of earthy savoury depth, and tannins that feel polished instead of aggressive.

Saint-Émilion is the part of Bordeaux where Merlot usually runs the show, which is why these wines tend to feel rounder and more immediately drinkable than many Cabernet-heavy Bordeaux. So you get structure for steak night, but enough plush fruit for a random Tuesday.

  • Appearance: Deep ruby with a darker core.
  • Nose: Black cherry and plum up front, then cocoa, cedar and a touch of dried herbs.
  • Palate: Dry, medium to full-bodied red wine with ripe dark fruit, fresh acidity, and firm but tidy tannins.
  • Body: Medium to full.
  • Finish: Long and savoury, lingering on dark berries and a light mocha note.

Food pairing:Pour it with roast lamb (garlic and rosemary is a cheat code), mushroom pasta, or a proper cheeseboard with aged cheddar and walnuts.

Not sure if you’re a Bordeaux person? Start here. It’s a great bridge from crowd-pleasers like Merlot or Malbec into something more layered, with that Saint-Émilion mix of fruit and savoury complexity that keeps you coming back for another sip.

This is also the kind of red that rewards a little air. If you’ve got the patience, crack it, pour a small glass, then come back after 20 minutes, the cocoa and cedar notes show up louder and the whole thing feels more put-together.

When to drink it? Anytime you want the “nice bottle” energy without turning dinner into a homework assignment. Bring it to a host who loves red wine, it’s a safe bet that still feels thoughtful.

Fun Fact: Jean-Pierre Moueix is one of Bordeaux’s most famous wine families, known for being deeply tied to the Right Bank and its Merlot-driven style.
