Joseph Drouhin Pouilly Fuisse 75cl

AED 170.00

White Burgundy that makes weeknight chicken feel like a plan. Pouilly-Fuissé from the Mâconnais leans into ripe pear, golden apple, and a squeeze of lemon, with a subtle toasted-almond vibe from careful oak. It’s Chardonnay with shape and energy, not buttery overload. Great for fans of French white wine who want something crisp, layered, and seriously drinkable!

Description

Chardonnay with a backbone. Pouilly-Fuissé is one of those white wines that hits the sweet spot between bright and rich, and Joseph Drouhin does it with a clean, confident style that’s hard not to love.

This is White Burgundy from the Mâconnais (southern Burgundy), where Chardonnay ripens a little more generously than up north. So you get juicy orchard fruit, but you still keep that Burgundy snap and a mineral edge that makes you want another sip.

  • Appearance: Pale gold with a clear, glossy shine.
  • Nose: Ripe pear, golden apple, lemon zest, white flowers, plus a light hint of toasted almond and vanilla.
  • Taste: Orchard fruit up front, then a citrus lift and a stony, mineral note that keeps it sharp and food-friendly. Dry, with fresh acidity and a touch of creamy texture from time on lees (those spent yeast bits that add body without adding sweetness).
  • Body: Medium-bodied, round but not heavy.
  • Finish: Clean and lingering, with citrus, gentle spice, and a faint nutty warmth.

If you’re bored of basic Chardonnay, this is your upgrade. It’s got that classic French white wine balance, fruit you can taste, and enough savoury detail to keep things interesting from first pour to last glass.

Food-wise, it’s a cheat code. Think roast chicken, creamy pastas that need a bright counterpunch, grilled prawns, sushi, or anything with a lemon-butter moment. It also plays ridiculously well with mushroom dishes, that nutty edge loves earthy flavours.

Why this producer? Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s most respected houses because they don’t try to shout. They aim for clarity, freshness, and wines that feel like the place they come from, not a science project.

Fun Fact: Joseph Drouhin has been committed to organic and biodynamic vineyard work for decades, pushing Burgundy toward cleaner farming long before it was trendy.
